# Number: Less than

> Checks that a number is less than the given value.

Checks whether the incoming number is less than the value you set here. The check only succeeds when the incoming value is strictly smaller, so a value exactly equal to the one you set does not match. Use this to act only on amounts below a threshold, for example flagging an order when its stock level drops under 100. If you want the threshold itself to count as a match, use [Number: Less than or equals](/references/condition/number-less-than-or-equals) instead.

This documentation describes: [Schema](/schemas/condition/number-less-than)

## Fields

**Value**

Required

The number the incoming value is compared against. The check passes when the incoming value is less than this number. The threshold value itself does not match; only values strictly below it do.

## Sample data

This compares each entity's `quantity` field against the number `100`.

| Field | Value |
| - | - |
| Value | `100` |

| Incoming value | Result |
| - | - |
| `99` | Matches |
| `100` | Does not match |
| `101` | Does not match |
