Checks whether the incoming value is a UUID, the long unique identifier written as five groups of hexadecimal characters separated by dashes, such as f47ac10b-58cc-4372-a567-0e02b2c3d479. Use this to confirm an identifier field holds a properly shaped UUID before you use it as a key or pass it to another system, or to route records with a missing or malformed identifier down a different path. Upper and lower case are both accepted. Only text can be a UUID: numbers, on/off values, empty values and lists never match. If you would rather be alerted when a field holds the wrong kind of value, turn on Throw error when data type is not string.
